Homeless people??!? Like WTF?

September 14th, 2006 by tony

Ok,

its been a long day, but after I finished my glorious 7-10 pm class, I was hungry, and I was looking forward to an after class snack, something to raise my spirits after a long day of getting mentally assaulted at school.

So on the way home I was trying to think of a good place to eat, and I debated for a while, but when I saw the golden arches, I knew that my hunger will be satisfied. But as I walked up to the store, there was two homeless men sitting out front of the store asking for change, I thought about taking a different path, but decided to continue. When they asked for change, I kindly said I had none, but I was left with a moral dilemma…go in to the store and get my meal, right when I turned them down, OR, find another place somewhere else. I hesitated, and before I could really decided what to do, my legs were already moving…I did not go into the store. There was no other fast food stores after that, and I had to quell my ravenous hunger with a damn popsicle…seriously, a POPSICLE!!!! Damn my guilty conscience, I should have just got the damn meal gone out right in front of the homeless men, and ate it all in front of them!

AH, screw this, I’m going to get some food

UPDATE

I went back to the golden arches, and got my damn meal. On top of that, I got a coupon that allowed me to get another meal (Two can Dine for 7.89) The second meal went to Nana. This was the best decision of my life… TAKE THAT HOMELESS PEOPLE!

just got out of my coma

Canada Day…again

July 5th, 2006 by tony

It was a good day. I enjoyed the great game between France and Brazil, and enjoyed it even more when the French sent Brazil on their way home.
Brazil is a team full of great individual players, but they didn’t mesh together well enough as a team to defeat France, who played solid.

Anyways, Canada day was ok, after the soccer game, a bunch of us played poker, and then the Portuguese Man of War, Phil Vicente himself and his brother Dan and I decided to head to a friends house and try to meet up with them to go to Parliament to catch the celebrations.
I wanted to start drinking in the University Centre while I was waiting for Phil and his brother, but it was all fizzy and I couldn’t really open it in there. I stuck with the dependable 40 of Olde English, it was awesome.
It took us 45 mins to get on a bus and make our way over to the house, and when we got to our stop, the damn bus driver didn’t even stop and let us get out of the bus, so we had to walk an extra block and a half to our destination.
When we got there, we were informed by someone sitting on their steps that they just left…that made us all pissed. We spent all that time trying to get there and they were gone. So we did the next best thing, we headed to the nearby park, and got drunk. After what seemed like hours, Phil and his brother decided to head home, but they didn’t want to carry a whole load of beer all the way back to their place, so what they did was that they stashed it on the back porch of our friends place, so he climbed up and placed them in the BBQ.
After heading about a block away, we stopped to watch the fireworks from the street, and Phil got a phone call from none other then the famous Mark Wilson. Asking us if we were going to head back to their place after, but we all thought it was something like 1 AM so they were going to leave, and I was going to stick around. But it turned out that we were all drunk, and it was only 10 PM. So we decided to head back to their place and wait for them.
When we got there, we got a little bored, so Phil climbed up to their back porch again, and we…kinda’ found our way into the house, hung out, watched some tv, and got more drunk, all before they got back. It was so wrong…but so right.
Anyways, we hung out at their place, and got even more drunk, which was awesome. And after the shindig was over, I ended up walking through downtown Ottawa drunk, and alone…it was awesome.
About half way throught the trip I was getting kind of hungry, but all the stores were closed, cause it was something like 3 AM, but when I was about to give up hope, I saw a sign…a Tim Hortons sign, this made me happy, but almost all of their delcious treats were gone, so I ended up getting a muffin, and it was a very satisfying muffin.
Yeah, the most important part was that I came home safe.

- Yeah, a bunch of stupid kids decided to take a piss on the National War Memorial, which also houses the tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Anways, they were identified by the Ottawa Police and 2 of the 3 idiots were underage and the Third idiot was identified as well, but isn’t in police custody yet.
I hope they come down hard on these guys. It would be even better if they got shipped off to Afghanistan so they can see first hand the sacrifice’s made by our men and women serving overseas.

Italy’s Through!

June 22nd, 2006 by tony

yeah, I’m happy.
Their victory today erased the bitterness I had from when they tied the US a few days ago.

Off to the Round of 16!

I got this photo from Yahoo, and it was taken after Inzaghi walked around the Czech keeper and scored, securing Italy’s place in the next round, and as you can see from the picture, the one fan is clearly impressed by the goal.

What time is it Bruce Arena? Oh yeah, thats right, time to get a new job after they fire you.

I hate it when Yahoo actually stops working, its like the damn site doesn’t want to work cause it likes being a bastard.

May Day’s

June 5th, 2006 by tony

No, I haven’t been celebrating socialist labour…though it has been a period of stagnation that even Brezhnev would have been proud of…that was a poor joke.
Anyways, May was long and boring, but here are some things that happened.

I went to see “The Strokes”, and the concert was great, there was alot of pushing, and after a while, because of all the pushing, I got separated from the group that I came with, so I did what any reasonable person would do…I joined the mosh pit. I ended up right near the middle of the stage, and almost got a drum stick, but I got a set list instead.

The next day I went to see “The Stills”, and it was a typical “indie” concert, people standing around with very little moving. It was a good show and at the end we got to meet the band. They were a nice bunch of guys, and we drank a beer with them, but we couldn’t really hang out with them cause they were due in Toronto the next day at noon for an interview at the CBC, then something at Much Music, but it was still awesome.

Finding a job sucks
Finding a job is actually the worst thing ever. I wish I could just show up somewhere I want, start working, and get paid for it. That would be amazing.

My day’s start at 5 PM
Are you jealous? Don’t be, its not fun at all, I’d rather be working.

It’s 2:45…
Don’t ask me the time, my watch ran out of batteries back in February, and its stuck at 2:45, but for some reason I still wear my watch. I think its time for a new one!

Trimming the Lion’s Mane
I’m getting my long sexy locks of hair cut. But don’t worry ladies, I’ll grow it back later.

BUNNIES!
I went for a walk in Vanier and it was like I was walking in a completly different town, it was like I was in a cottage town or something like it.
On my way back home, I was going to check out the map for the trail by the river, when I suddenly stopped, looked down, and there was this little rabbit feasting on dandelions by me feet. It wasn’t startled by my presence, which was neat, and for some reason I stood there for a few minutes and watched it as it was devouring the dandelions…I was tempted to get some bunny slippers though.

OMFG WORLD CUP
I guess its kind of a blessing that I don’t have a job, why you ask? So I can enjoy every game of the World Cup. Thats right, an entire month’s worth of soccer hooliganism, and you better watch it too, even if you don’t know any of the teams, just pick random one, and go with the flow.

P.I. Is my neglected child…

April 25th, 2006 by tony

I’m serious…
Anyways, I’ve been busy with school recently, which has been a terrible onslaught of stress and destruction. But Hey! exams are almost done which is great. This means that I’ll probably be able to make more time for P.I.!1YAY!

- I was supposed to have an exam in my Roman Empire class today, because it conflicted with another exam I had yesterday morning. So I spent all that time studying yesterday and this morning. I arrived at my prof’s office ready for the fight, and thats when I saw the note on her door, saying that she is sick, and cannot give the exam today, it also told us to email her later.
I actually didn’t know what to do, I walked around not knowing what just happened, and when I was on my way home when I had to turn around and double check if I read the thing properly…for some reason I just didn’t konw what to do, or how to feel, it was crazy. I came prepared for the exam, and then nothing happened, I just stood there for a bit. This all may seem senseless to many of you, but I kinda felt cheated…like I ACTUALLY spent time preparing and studying for an exam that never took place, and might not even happen!I know its not the teachers fault, its just that I can’t believe I got out of bed early for this…

- I was reading the news today about the four fallen Canadian Soldiers, who died in Afghanistan a few days ago, and found out that the Conservative Government has decided to not allow the media to cover the return of the sodliers bodies to CFB Trenton. Even though before under the Liberal government, they allowed the media to have access to the return of the other soldier’s who have died. Now with the flag issue, I can understand, but with this? What is there to hide?

The government have barred media access to the return of the bodies, because they believe that it is a “”private and solemn” event to be shared only by the military and relatives of the soldiers.” Now I respect the families need for privacy, but these soldiers were there fighting for us, for Canada. Why is the country not allowed to see the bodies come back and to mourn the loss? It seems as if the government wants to lessen the impact of the deaths, so that if people don’t see it, they won’t care. Its the old “out of sight, out of mind” deal, and their sacrifice will go from being a national tragedy, to just being another number.

Adopting the American form of bringing bodies back, (sometimes they fly the bodies home in cargo planes), devalue the sacrifice that the soldier has made for their country, they turn out to be nothing more then a tool that can be easily replaced.

Thankfully in Canada, the national media actually cares about reporting and showing Canadians the faces and names of the soldiers who have died. It allows us to have more of a connection with what is happening, and to sympathise with the families that have lost a loved one.

Basically, if we take the whole visual element out of the war, it would then lessen the emotional impact, and when that happens, nobody will care, or even bother to take notice. It would probably take a lot more then a ban on the media to show the return of the bodies for people to stop noticing the war, but it is a step in that direction, and if more action is done by the government to try and sheild the human cost of the war from Canadians, then it is obvious that the government is trying to separate Canadians from what is happening. By separating us from the war, the government can do things with the military without the people noticing that much, and when soldiers die because of it, then no one will know, or even care. When people stop caring, they stop bothering the government about the war, the conservative government has already gotten some flak over Canada’s involvement in Afghanistan, so this could be a step to try and curb it. Though they are getting some trouble for it now, this will probably end up benefitting them in the long run, we’ll just have to wait and see.

-I’ll get a picture up on my page soon, I just don’t have one for it yet!

Rick Mercer is a Genius

March 15th, 2006 by tony

Even though I don’t have cable, I catch the highlights to his show whenever his site is updated.
On his show called the “Rick Mercer Report”, Rick goes around exploring the far corners of Canada and shows viewers what Canada is all about.
He also talks about many political issues, pokes fun at politicians and their policies, and all that fun stuff.

Just recently he tried to auction off a “Liberal Leadership” package on Ebay which had to be taken down cause the bid went from 15 Canadian dollars, to 16 Million in just one week.

But anyways, its a great show…I wish I had cable to watch it, if you do have cable, you can catch it on Thursdays on the CBC at 8PM. Its a funny show, and if you have any knowledge about Canadian politics then you’ll understand most of his jokes.

His internet site has highlights of the show where you can watch, and are also awesome, but not as good as the real thing.

So tune in!

Police ain’t go nothing on me!

February 26th, 2006 by tony

So reading week is now over, and its back to the grind, the joy is overwhelming…no..it isn’t…

Anyways, when I was home catching up on the local news in the newspaper, I came across an article which made me laugh.
Nothing satisfies me more then seeing the cop which harassed my friend and I last summer (the blogged account!, you have to go down to the second article), being suspened from duty (with pay), pending an investigation (for what…they didn’t say, but I think it was for being a complete asshole). The cop had been seen by many in town as going around on a power trip, (and being an asshole), so I guess he got what was coming…I will celebrate this occasion with alcohol and disorderly conduct.

You know what is awesome, getting your computer fixed and returned in less then 3 days…Dell you are amazing…I was so wrong, they are awesome, and do a good job, if my computer lasts for a few more years, I’ll be satisfied with my purschase, if not, I will curse Michael Dell’s name and company.

Machines fail….at life

February 19th, 2006 by tony

OK, you want to know whats awesome?

When the video card on your laptop just implodes, and your left without a computer for school, thats what is awesome.
But Michael Dell got lucky…it still was on warranty so there will be no vendetta…just a pure “disliking” of his products.
No “raging against the machines” yet

So yeah…SPRING BREAK
And I’m spending it in Belleville! That is what I call awesome.

Woah, another new face, (welcome Mike) it’s like…expanding our horizons…you know!
yeah….

Have a good break everyone, I’ll catch you all on the flip
