You probably did a spit take when you read that title. “How could Nana of all people diss the Dark Knight Detective???” Well, you can all rest easy because all it not as it seems.
I don’t get a chance to watch tv very often while school is on, because I don’t have cable in my apartment. As such, I’m behind on alot of pop culture stuff. More importantly, I miss out on all the cool cartoons (and happily, I miss out on all the terrible ones! I’m looking at you, Battle B’Daman!) However, on this reading week I got to catch the newest iteration of the Batman series in animated cartoon form, titled “The Batman.”
I had seen images and screen caps from the show online before seeing the show, so I knew about it’s angular and sleek style. Visually, this show is stunning. But what really “grinds my gears” is how they portray the Caped Crusader in the show. He was getting his ass kicked! Batman doesn’t get his ass kicked folks, and if you need to ask me why that is then you should stop reading now.
Also, he has this stupid Bat-Palm Pilot or something that alerts him to crimes. I’m sure it also alerts him to drug deals or when his baby momma wants to reach him or something as well.
In his “regular” life, Bruce Wayne is supposed to put up a front of being a spoiled rich kid to draw more attention to himself superficially and allay suspicions of himself leading a double life. In this show, he acts like a wimp around his close friends and seems to be more of a push over than anything else.
ARGH, I can’t get over the fact that he got beaten up so badly. I can’t even finish this post. Just don’t watch it if it’s on TV, maybe it’ll be cancelled or something.
