Another summer in Waterloo it is!

I keep changing my mind on this matter but now I’ve decided for sure.

See, after switching out of engineering last summer I decided I was going to do the arts & business program with a major in economics which meant I would pretty much have to redo my entire undergrad. Not wanting to be here forever, I decided I’d be in school all year round and finish the whole degree by being in school for 2 1/2 years straight. Then I realized it’d be a waste of my time to do it over so I decided not to bother with the arts & business program – which turned out wasn’t too enjoyable anyway – and instead use my engineering course credits toward a plain economics degree.

That put me back on track with most people my age so then I didn’t really need to be in school in the summer to catch up. I decided it’d be a nice break to go home for the summer and focus on training karate and other non-school learning. Yeah, a nice idea.

Then I had reading week. I had been thinking recently of how I wanted to stay in Waterloo again but after reading week, I could no longer ignore the reality of how bloody boring Belleville is and how living at home is terrible for my health both physically and mentally. At home, I sleep in everyday, I’m not motivated to do anything productive, I watch tv, I play video games, and eat lots of delicious food. If I could barely stand spending a whole week there, how could I do it for 4 months?

Anyway, recently I’ve been reminiscing in memories from last summer and I’ve realized nothing beats summer in Waterloo. It’s like a student heaven. Walking to class in the beautiful summer sun, BBQs with great friends, partying every weekend, having 3 hour lunches out on the Bomber patio, the beach, doing a million extra-curricular activities, playing catch, I could go on forever.

I think it’d be a waste not to take a couple courses since I rarely go to class anyway, so I think I’m going to take 1 or 2 courses this summer and spend the rest of my time working out, doing karate, being heavily involved on campus again and working on some business projects.

So that’s that, I’m staying in Waterloo again this summer…and I can’t wait!
