I woke up bright and early today at 8am to go workout. I woke up to the surprising news that school had been cancelled today due to the weather. It barely snowed but I guess the roads were a little slick and the University of Waterloo follows a policy of closing school for the day if the regional school board closes all their elementary and high schools.
I’d normally be really happy. From the looks of my MSN contact list, a lot of people lucked out with a postponed midterm. But it didn’t make a difference to me since well, I have 1 class on Thursdays – in fact, I only really have 1 class everyday of the week – and I don’t even go to it! So yeah, it made absolutely no difference to me that it was a snow day…except that I couldn’t go to campus to go workout. And that’s why I wasn’t happy.
Anyway, sitting on MSN at 9am with nothing better to do I was chatting with people about the snow day. Strickland and I discussed the fact that MSN can serve as an early warning system. Any major news will be first reported on news websites or on the radio, but only to those reading/listening. However MSN, you see, is the one that will bring the news to the masses. Snow days, election coverage, death of celebrities, Chuck Norris quotes, sports results. MSN is where you will most likely hear it first.
We came to the conslusion that if there was a nuclear attack, you’d first hear it on MSN. You’d also be able to calculate the rate of spread of the nuclear radiation based on MSN names correlated with their geographical locations.
Strickland claims he will try to receive all his news only through MSN names. I predict he wil be just as informed as every other university student.
truly cannot disagree…
it’s like people walking with their “comics bubble” above their head in real life.
Is it all planned by that Lord Gates and his dark stormtroopers? I mean. I’ve been spying within from the very 2.0, but what happened to AOLm? ICQ?
Turns out… they sucked.
That and ICQ made you click send. Damn that button.
